A poem by Coney Bird
I'm just a goose who looks like a moose.
While walking along I quack a song,
and grin while shaking my tale.
My walk is staggered, and wings are droopy,
but that doesn't slow me down.
When it's time to dance, I shake and turn
to the amusement of the town.
While I'm dancing, and the crowd begins to cheer,
I jump, flap my wings, and shake my little rear.
When it's time to go I end the show
by flapping my wings to fly.
I'm reminding the people of the town
it's time to say goodbye.
They all know if I had a choice,
I'd fly into the sky.
But I was wounded by a hunter, barely escaped,
and now unable to fly.
The town keeps wondering if I'll ever go.
The true answer is, I would if I could,
but I love to put on a show.
